#4 art for MCA Denver’s still loading...
1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
sometimes the acrylic paint didn’t layer on the way I wanted it o on the glass. I had to be careful so as to not lift the paint underneath.
2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists?
i was on Pinterest and I had seen pictures of someone doing oil paint of an eye on a small piece of glass.
3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements.
i decided to do a multi layered painting with the glass. I wasn’t sure at first if I wanted to do all colour or black and white for the figures. I also added the shadows after I was doing painting on the glass for added depth .
4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time?
When my piece was shown they didn’t put another piece of glass on my painting like I had asked them to. There was also an accidental crack that ended up working in my favor because at least it was strategically placed.
5. Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread?
again, no direct correlation to the others because this was done for a separate exhibition.

#3 sea life exhibition for someone’s cas project
1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
I mastererd using texture and organic patterns while sculpting the coral. I struggled with my hands getting tired from constantly shaping and molding the clay.
2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists?
i looked at tutorials on how to manipulate the clay. I didn’t really see many pictures that look like my art, I feel like my piece is original.
3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements.
i was always changing the placement of the various pieces. I had to decide what ricks to use as bases as well as what to use on the bottom to Crete a flat base.
4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time?
I would make it bigger and use resin to seal it in. I was going to but I never got the remaining supplies. This project also got too expensive too quickly. I was really proud of the end result and how cute it looks.
5. Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread?
there isn’t a direct correlation although the use of colour is a theme for pieces 3,4.

#2 experimantion with new medium
1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
Some of the colours like the metallics didn’t react with other paints like I thought they would, so they created different textures and looks that eventually worked in my favor to achieve an organic and different look. I did wel on the shading off the plants to create an in-depth effect.
2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists?
I’ve been wanting to do a spray paint space for a while now, though I’ve had no previous experience with spray paints. I got some ideas from Pinterest and looked at some YouTube tutorials. In all, I freehanded it as I went from my own imagination.
3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements.
I started with a plain sheet of glossy paper. I used bowls and cups to create a circle stencil and sprayed a ring a round it to get the shape. I then filled in the blank circle and used magazine papers to do a marbeled affect. I placed the bowl back and sprayed around it thus achieveing a planet. I layered spray paints on and finished off with a spatter if stars.
4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time?
I would get other colour spray paints and I would use the fire method.
5. Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread?
So far there isn’t any corrolation with my other piece.

#1 charcoal self portrait
1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
I struggled with value because the photo I was working with was very exposed. I mastered proportion and highlight.
2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists?
i looked at the examples our teacher showed in class. I didn’t really gain inspiration because it was my own style
3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements.
it got better the more I worked on it. I added in more value and made it look less flat with white accents.
4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time?
I would draw on a tilted surface so that I can get a better view. It doesn't look the same from a bird's eye view as opposed to a front view. I think it would look more like me that way.
5. Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread?
I used willow charcoal and drew from a picture.
